What Can A Dog Warden Do About A Dog Attack?

My dog was attacked by a staffie, the police aren't interested as I didn't get bit. It was completely unprovoked, my dogs were on the other side of the street, both on lead, not barking, literally sniffing a bush. His dog had no lead or collar and was on the opposite side of the street. It bee-lined towards us and attacked.

The police warden is investigating today... but what power do they actually have?

ladybirder I have no doubt that you are 100% correct. :-)
I said the staffies who attack other dogs were usually owned by thugs Baldric, are you a thug ?? And whether you like it or not, it IS staffies that attack other dogs the most, just because you own them doesn't make it not so ...
Well said spath, perfectly true.
I would sign such a petition anthro.

Lovely walk, quite strong sunshine, very little wind and Sea like a Millpond.
Enjoyed it
///Are they muzzled and on leashes every time you take them out?///
Nope, they've never worn a Muzzle since I've owned them, they wear Collars, Dog-Tags and are Chipped and are only on a lead when walking by a road, what they are is well socialised and well trained.
And thanks to Ladybirder ;o)
If I need any more help, I will ask for it, but from what I've seen not on this Site.
I will now surprise Baldric by seconding what LB has said..... it tickled me after so long of hearing from Baldric about choosing and training his dogs to see him being questioned about how he walks them... :-)

Am now in Deep Shock,
Quick Gness . . . . . CPR Pleeease
;o)
Have G n T Baldric.

And being given lectures gness. He's probably forgotten more than most will ever know. It's not everyone whose vet calls them to take on a dog desperate for a good home.
You want ME to give you CPR?????

You are in shock!.... ;-)

It's that age-old desire to live dangerously every now, that and the shock.

Well I've gardening stuff to put away, Baldric......so you could just go up a ladder for your danger thrill...... ;-)
Jordy, how do you know that I have tattoos?

No Tats Jordy, still a bit of the 'Don't mess with me' in the system as you might expect from a 20 year served Royal Marine and my Dogs are softies.

Have sold the Ladders gness.
Plenty of lovely well-behaved Staffies running around, most off lead all no muzzles in my local parks Jordy. I see them everyday. And the best bit is to see the old Staffs with grey on their faces who have been with their family all their lives. I usually talk to the owners and ask about them.
Staffies are nice dogs, but they look tough and that seems to encourage some unreliable people to obtain one.

I love dogs but the type of hound that scares/bothers me are Yorkies (or, as Mikey used to call them, Yorkshire Wolfhounds), Jack Russells and yappy rat dogs.

It is sad that your dog was attacked Anthro, it would have been frightening at the time. I hope that it is not going to interfere with your enjoyment that you get with your hounds.
As Jordy hasn't come back to me for a bit of banter, I would like to point out that I don't actually have any tattoos

Let us now how this goes, Anthro and good luck with your petition.
Can't change your tune now, Tilly......I've seen them..... ;-)
Oh flip!

That page says they have a "tendency toward dog aggression", among many more positive qualities.

Please, if anybody can find a reputable "dog-choosing" site that says that staffies are friendly towards other dogs, point it out. All the sites I've seen that mention their behaviour towards other dogs say that they are aggressive. Great with people and kids, but aggressive towards other dogs. This can of course be controlled by a responsible owner, but in this instance that clearly was not the case.
