Apart from the obvious (ie drugs etc!) what are you not permitted to bring back as a gift from thailand???

In addition, Thailand prohibits the export of certain religious artefacts. In practice, small replicas are allowed. Anything old, or appearing to be old, will require a permit, which is difficult to obtain. People selling these items will of course assure you that no permit is required!

Yes I agree with the above (only religious articles are illegal, e.g Buddha images etc. Don't forget to get you VAT forms signed when you buy stuff so you can get some money back from your buys. You'll need to get these stamped before you go through to departure lounge so you can collect the money on the other side of the counter!! They didn't even check the stuff!! We went to Phuket by the way.
