Thursday. Misty out there again. I got the eggs yesterday, hen's, duck's and the geese are laying again, so I got four of those too. I'm going to pickle some of the hens eggs, I called in at the butchers on the way back and got some of his lovely sausage meat, so I'll do some Scotch eggs to Vera's recipe too. I got a couple of other things while I was in there. I also ordered some ham and mushroom quiches from the lovely lass that makes therm to order. I don't know what her secret ingredient is, but they are to die for. Twenty two years I've been buying my meat etc. from him, and I've never come out with just what I went in for. We always have a good old natter, he's a good friend, and all his staff are delightful. So he's a good business man too.

Good morning waterboatman Just wondering where you were - not often that I am up before you Heading South today to catch up with the family Was cancelled in March because of the snow (Still trying to crying to get the money back from Trainline - but that's another story) Weather here misty at the moment but it is so changeable that I'm hoping that fun sunshine - Optimistic or what. 19 degrees on Monday 5 & 6 Tuesday Wed - Never know what to wear. I've packed jumpers and Tshirts :-)
You can't beat a good butcher or deli - I'd rather browse - and graze in there than a sweetie shop. Our area is known for its pork pies and I must admit that they are gorgeous. As a Southerner I'd never had them warm but I'm addicted now with mushy peas and mint sauce. Had to knock them on the head since joining Slimming World - but I do miss them :-( I've made some sausage rolls 'for the journey'. Slimming world style. Heck sausages in a wrap - not the same as real ones but passable and it does take the edge off.
Enjoy your quiches and scotch eggs SW do a 'fix' for these as well Again not the same obviously

Morning granny. xxx Where down south are you heading for. if I may ask? I like to make my own when I can. My butcher makes all sorts of pies, pasties etc. All made in the shop. I bought a couple of his cheese and onion pasties too, can't find them now, they disappeared! :o} Lovely they are, he uses two types of cheese in them.

We are stopping in Rayliegh and popping down to Kent - Isle of Sheppey Will try to get to Canterbury to see and old Navy mate of Granddad grump He runs a fantastic pub - The Royal Oak at Blean Time permitting We will also pop into Faversham to see my brother
Before he joined the Navy my husband my husband was a butcher and pork pie maker extraordinaire and was well known in his area of North Yorkshire

Love Canterbury..beautiful cathedral, was there in June once...and it snowed !

Gloucester has a beautiful cathedral, William the Conqueror was crowned there.

Yes we have 'done' Gloucester ' as well You can't beat a good church/cathedral We also like Norwich

Going to Chester next month and used to live in Norwich !
