Pet Female And Male Mice Together?
8 Answers
Can I keep my male and female mice together even if they have babies? I have 2 females, Bone and Nilla, and 1 male, Dice, in the same habitat and they got along for now. If the mice do have babies and I dont want to be "over run" is taking the babies and killing them an okay idea? Or should I try to sell them? But babies aren't the only problem. Since the male will most likely always be in the same cage as the females, will he have to fight for dominance or kill the babies/mother because he thinks they're not his? I dont plan on getting anymore mice so I dont think he'll be too aggressive...but I'm not an "expert". I'm uncertain if I should separate the male mouse because this could confuse him, but I dont want him to keep breeding the female. If I kill the babies, and keep the male separate for a while, would that be the best option?
Will the female miss her babies so much she dies of sadness? If so, I will try not to let that happen and separate the male for as long as necessary.

I had 2 white mice for my 12th birthday & soon after there were 32! Twas a roaring trade selling them to with friends. The male will kill the babies if its not separated from them.

I'll assume for the moment this is genuine, you must remove the male into a separate cage now, males can live very happily on their own. I am shocked that a presumed animal lover is prepared not only to put the females through a state of almost continuous pregnancy but also happy to kill 20-30 innocent babies once a month. Perhaps it would be better for all concerned if you rehome these poor animals and next time you are tempted to have a pet you do some research first. If this s just a wind up then I would recommend getting out more and growing up a bit.
