If anyone has watched the usa film Track of the cat , they refer repeatedly to a Panther as "Painther" or "Painter"
Initially i thought i was mishearing , but do they pronounce it differently in the states ? Yet bizarrely the official trailer refers correctly as "Panther"

I heard "panther".
But I'm American so maybe I don't hear as you might.
1954, my Dad will have watched it am sure.
Maybe you heard panther because this is the official trailer, Pasta?

I haven't seen the film, but perhaps it's something to do with the accent of the particular area it's set in.
Funnily enough when I lived in the Carolinas I thought I'd hired a painter and a large wild cat turned up, wearing Puma trainers.
Was it in a Jaguar, douglas.

Dohhh!!
I blame the OP for posting it...;-))
Oh...and yes, it's probably due to a regional accent. Or at least an actor's idea of one.
A 'Bert the Cockerneee chimbley sweep' moment? :-)
