The average bacon pack in supermarkets started out at 400 grams, and yes I know you can still buy different weights, this was the average every day weight pack. It then dropped to 350grams, then 300, then 250, now 200 and even below. They now put the weight on the back of the pack, and encourage us to buy their pack by telling us how many bumper slices we have, the thickness of the bacon as gone from wafer thin to tissue thin.

If you like magic tricks buy a pack of supermarket bacon, pop into the pan watch it swim about in white bubbles, and then disappear in front of your eyes.

Is this poster a Chef, he is just sooo Knowledgeable?
Not that knowledgeable
hmm Bacon, step aside Stacey... I'm drooling.
I agree, nicebloke1, it's really irritating and quite frustrating trying to turn over pieces of bacon the thickness of Kleenex.
Why don't you go to a local butchers nicebloke? Sometimes the supermarket is the only place people can get to so it has to make do for them, but if you have time and opportunity to get a better product elsewhere then i encourage that
I don't buy bacon pre-packed nor from a supermarket. You're shopping at the wrong places, mate
i buy thick smoked bacon from tesco its nice and lasts ages.. It's less than £2.50

I don't shop at supermarkets, all be it for very little, I just watch the crap they sell and the tricks they use to con people. I go to butchers that own their own shops and markets, the few that are left anyhow.
what an utter waste of your time - why do you do that? you dont shop at SMs, but you go in to monitor the pack weights, quality etc just so you can tell other people?
weirdo!
Bacon's not been the same since they started nicking the rind before selling the rest. One probably needs an independent butcher as supplier, pre-packed can be reasonable, but no better.
Jeez I'll bet you are a scream at dinner parties.....
Buy good quality dry cure bacon and stop being mean.
Just what I thought, Bednobs.... :-)....it is an odd thing to do.....watching folk buying supermarket bacon....a complete waste of time...albeit Nicebloke's time....
You can't put a price on a perfect bacon and egg sandwich...
