They claim that hunting is to keep fox numbers manageable, but the reality is that hunting is probably the least efficient way of managing numbers, and the real reason why they hunt foxes is because they enjoy doing it. The kill is incidental - it has to be, given the ratio of hunts to kills - if it was to actually kill, it would have been abandoned years ago as a waste of time and effort."
Yup. I have got a friend who lives in a sheep farming area in Scotland. The sheep aren't generally brought in to lamb and they control the fox numbers by going out and shooting them. Marksmen do it as a paid job, so much per dead fox, picking the foxes off as they come in to take the lambs. Foxes which don't try to take lambs don't get shot.

I can assure you that plenty of the 'country set' are absolutely appalled by these monsters. I live in the depths of the country when in the UK and although I'm not at all adverse to popping off a fox with a gun, or killing something to eat it, in line with most of my kith and kin and most people around here, I'm deadly against chucking a live baby fox to hounds, again like the vast majority of other country dwellers nationwide I would imagine. These people are a fraction of 1% of country folk and they do just love the cruelty and that's why no-one but their own kind likes them or will have anything to do with them. x
