We have several feeders with varying food and I’ve never seen so many bluetits and coaltis in my life but they eat all day, is this normal? We still get other birds at certain times of the day especially earlier and later in the day, but only when the tits have gone is this why? I enjoy watching them but are they discouraging others ?

You think all our lovely songbirds are vermin 10c?
They ARE vermin. It's a fact. No getting away from it. Rats with wings. Ipso fatso.
Ive been feeding the birds every day of my life, unfortunately I dont see any blue tits now, or sparrows. Years ago we would regularly see yellowhammers, hear the cuckoo every year, and regularly see skylarks but not now.
Theres nothing nicer than hearing a lovely blackbird singing in the morning when I wake up.
Or in the evening Georgiesmum when they are pecking around in the border and talking to themselves before they go to sleep for the night:-)
Clarion what a shame for you that you feel like you do about our birds and animals that give so much please to so many people. Do you mind me asking who or what made you take this point of view?

Ladybirder, Georgiesmum, until we started going to the caravan I never had a real interest in nature but there’s always something to see but we only have a tiny garden at home so it’s a novelty especially watching the bird feeder waiting for some new visitors.
Where there was one before in my garden, now there are many.
I know Clarion has some unusual views about animals in general however "They ARE vermin. It's a fact" is totally untrue. What is classed as vermin is not personal opinion but rather listed by DEFRA and bluetits are certainly not on the list.
LB and Prudie. Animals mean nothing to me simply because there are other more important things going on. I have no time for animals. Now; how's this for a contradiction?: A few days ago I spent over £800 on a puppy. A pedigree. I fkn hope so for that price! I don't even know the proper spelling of it, something like a Brejon Freeze. Told you I don't know. I'm sure the doggie experts on here will correct me. Why would I spend that much on a dog when I don't like dogs? Because it was for someone very special who I know will benefit from owning it. You see? I spent all that a money on a pedigree puppy that wasn't even for me. Aren't I loving and thoughtful? Well? Aren't I?
nope

Thirded (if there's such a word).

If your gift was well received it does sound like it was a nice thing to do. But I don't see what that has to do with you not liking animals. I just hope that even though you don't like them you do not wish them any harm?
I, on the other hand love animals. I was very upset when my 4-year-old cat died this month of a brain haemorrhage. Unfortunately the month only got worse yesterday when my little JR dog was put to sleep when it was found he had end stage liver failure. I am very sad and upset over their deaths but they have given me much love and happiness during their lives. What a shame you haven't experienced this CC. There may be more important things in life as you say but animals are pretty important in mine and many others.
Sorry to hear about your little dog, LB. How horrible for you to lose two pets in less than a month. I know how much it hurts. x
I am sorry to hear about your little JR Ladybirder. I hope he has joined your cat over the Rainbow Bridge.
Very sad LB, all we can ever do is to thank them for the love and loyalty x
Thank you Tilly, it does. I'm still processing it all. It's so quiet. The only thing moving is me. I've washed his bed and stuff and put his dishes away. We had a nice life together all of us, I know they would agree.
Marval my cat wanted to play with the dog but he wasn't having it at all. Thank you, and Mamy.
Sorry Mj, I apologise if I am taking over your thread:-(

Not a problem Ladybirder, interesting to see what’s come from a query about garden birds
