34a I am not doing the crossword so don't know for sure, but SNOOLS looks good.
The "Scots" word (indicated by Mac) "snool" is a cowering or bullied person that wants to help, similar to the slang term "poodle". Then of course it is "loon"(silly) reversed inside "SS"
