i think my goldfish might have septicemia, he started off with a small red mark on his tail which has now spread right the way up his tail and looks like it may be going into his body. i have treated the water with disease safe and i am just hoping for the best. i have tried to find a picture of a fish with this disease so i can be sure that's what is wrong withhim, but i'm not having any luck, does anyone know where i can find a picture, or does anyone know anything about this disease. will my fish die because of this?

thanks.

What makes you think it's septicaemia in the first place?
I don't know how often you clean your tank or how much water you take out, but it can be caused by amonia in the water. Mine had red streaks in the tail which started very mildly and spread up the tail. I would do a 50-70% water change using using your usual water conditioner. You can buy aquarium salt from the pet stores which also helps and I usually use Melafix, but I'm sure any disease safe products would be ok. I think there is someone on here who is a moderator for a site on goldfish. Perhaps he will answer your question more. Good Luck. Mine didn't die by the way!
