Just a quick update on the bird I sought identification on earlier in this post. When I said it had a wing span of 1.8m that is what I meant. My footpath is 1mtr. wide and as it approached me it's wings overhung the path on either side.
Earlier today at work we have a visit from someone who visits weekly at this time of the year and upsets the swarms of seagulls that cause many problems on our roofs. He uses a hawk to soar around the roof and this puts them off nesting.
He also takes in and rescues birds of prey, he looks after them, often for life.
When I showed him the image I put in the link above he said ..
''I keep two of those at home they keep my Eagle owl and a few of my Barn owls company ... it's a Common Buzzard''
Can't really dispute it with him, as he has rescued and kept birds of prey for more than 40 years !
