Bathing The Dog

The time has come to give it a go.
He’s a large size cockapoo, very lively, three years old.
We intend to bath him in the garden on the warmest day next week.

If the coat is getting thick get some pet clippers and give it a go at clipping yourself or else with the warm weather he will be getting very hot. Make sure you rinse all the shampoo out - and a very good tip is to hold the dog round the neck while wetting and leave the head till last or else he will want to shake all over you - and hold a towel over him when you have finished as he will definitely shake then!
Place a large bath towel in the bottom of the bath to avoid scratching it. However I wouldn't be too concerned about bathing a dog in this weather - have you seen how many dogs like jumping into water even on the coldest days? As long as you have towels to get most of the water off then let him run around the garden to dry himself off then he'll be ok I'm sure.
I think we’re going out give it a go in the bath, having thought about it again.
I think it’ll be easier to contain him when he’s wet, and probably easier on us to get him thoroughly washed and rinsed.
We have a corner bath with a sort of seat moulded into it so one of us will get in and sit on that, holding him, while the other one uses the spray to wet, wash and rinse him.
Well, that’s the plan...
