Isn't it just wonderful. My local Great Tit bigging himself up LOL.

TBH, we live fairly remotely anyway, but we have noticed the complete and utter silence at this time of night - there is absolutely no distant traffic noise. All you can hear are owls and deer. It's so quiet your ears actually ring.

Earlier today we had a woodpecker drumming away, which was lovely. And you can hear the buzzards and red kites from a massive height.

I had my first day working outside today. It was wonderful sat outside with just birdsong around me.

Ladybirder sorry not to get back sooner. Yes I know The Langdon Beck Hotel, in fact one of the previous Landlords was a great uncle of my OH. Barnard Castle is our nearest town, about 11 miles away. We've had a few famous neighbours too including Hannah Hauxwell and Amanda Owen.

Blackbirds singing on a summer evening when the traffic has quietened, or picking at the apples I leave on the lawn for them, always life my heart.
I also like to see them splashing about in the bird bath.

So sad that many species are decreasing at a shocking rate.

Just back from our walk and we saw the wagtail again, probably been there lots of times but we never noticed him/her.
