Thank YOU for having a look Electro. I thought it had fallen on deaf ears;-)
Since lockdown I think we get serenaded much more than we used to, maybe because they are enjoying cleaner air, less cars to knock them down, and burgeoning plant growth to feed them.

I'm sure you're right CaC. Other creatures as well. First time I've had hedgehogs in my garden in all the years I've lived here. Three of them now, eating the food I put out and then mating until the early hours, rather loudly. And oh boy do they move fast. I hope they stay after lockdown is eased and I've been looking at hedgehog houses to encourage them not to leave us.
I once read, somewhere, that the birds that sing earliest in the dawn chorus are birds with relatively large eyes, that can capture the increasing daylight before other, smaller-eyed, birds can. Does anyone know if there's any truth in that?

I haven't heard that and no idea if it's true. Looking at my link, Robin first to greet the day, then Blackcap followed by Blackbird, I don't particularly see the connection BB, do you?
I agree with you, ladybirder. It's probably a twitcher's fairy story, but I thought that I'd just mention it. Thanks for the link to the bird songs, very pleasant, I thought.

You're welcome bb. Glad you enjoyed it.
