The bullfinches are so greedy, they sit on the feeders for a long time, making a real target of themselves. The other finches and tits just make fleeting visits and are satisfied with one peanut or seed at a time.
We still have 4 bullfinches calling throughout the day, so I will keep my fingers crossed for them.

Mr BM would be v jealous at your bullfinches, Choux. Despite seeing over 50 different bird species we've only ever seen 1 female bullfinch.
Mind you about an hour ago I did have 2 different types of woodpecker in the garden (A greater spotted on the feeder and a greeny on the lawn).
The sparrowhawk soon scared them off tho.

ilm, my neighbour has those and I am afraid to say they are not effective. I cannot blame clean windows for the strikes either at the moment. My kitchen window has an imprint of a small owl on it - how that happened I have no idea, but it is absolutely clear it was a small owl. The imprints of its eyes and fluffy body are lovely to see. Just one small feather was left on the pane. I don't want to clean it off really.
