I am extremely happy that this elephant has a chance to be with others , It was so cruel for him to be kept alone. I hope he lives on for a good number of years .

I always think about Annie, the only elephant at Longleat. She has been there for 11 years on her own now. Longleat said that when she first moved in they would be rescuing other elephants too and she would not be alone, but they never did take on other elephants. She had a rotten life in the circus, beaten daily by cruel workers who had no respect for her at all. I have tried emailing Longleat to ask why they renaged on their promise to place other elephants with her, but they never reply.

Yes that was very touching Mamya. Apparently he's have three females to choose from when he moves out of his present enclosure as they want him to breed. Get's better doesn't it. I read that in bookbinder's link, thanks bb.

They've done a recent update on Annie, which can be seen on you tube and they try to explain why she is still alone, but it doesn't impress me. She has a much better life there than in the vile circus she was in, but she's still alone!! Elephants need their own kind.
