Is everything electrical only sold these days with a sealed mains plug?...last weekk, the telly plug blew and yesterday, the kettle blew and messed up the electrics, with no chance at all to replace the fuse - or whatever's in there these days! So, is the only choice, no choice but to go and buy a new...? Ta Muchly and a Stay Healthy New Year to All...(luckily, we had a spare kettle, but now have to get a spare spare, not to mention a new telly - Oh, I just did...well, you've got to laugh, eh or scream!

Just cut off the old one and put a new one on!
Also, even a fixed plug should have a way of changing a fuse.
Any electrical appliance I've ever bought for use in the UK has a fuse in the plug.
sounds like you need an overall electrical check up
On a sealed 13 Amp plug look between the prongs: there will almost certainly be some sort of 'fuse holder', usually embossed with a fuse symbol and the fuse rating, which can be prised out using a small flat-head screwdriver - look for the small notches at each end of the holder
Something is throwing these appliances out. A fuse will not blow in a new TV for no reason, best get a safety check.
We don't know that the fuse has blown because woodelf can't even find the fuse.
I recently bought a power pak and I was given a new phone for Christmas. Both of the recharging adaptors are sealed and neither have access to a fuse. It seems to be a growing trend.
^ but they're not the same as a 13-amp plug...

Sorry Maydup, should have said it wasn't a new tv, nor kettle either. Etch you may have it!...looked at plug and saw fuse holder (suppose?) and on it was/is written El-225 and also 5A/250v - and there are the two little thingys that you mentioned. The plug was in a multi-socket "bar" and tested all other sockets and they worked fine with their own designated plug, but did not work with the blown plug. Hopefully, we'll get to work with s/driver, see what comes out and pop in a new fuse and take it from there!...that sound okay?
a kettle needs a 13 amp fuse not 5
You can buy 1Kw kettles which use a 5 amp fuse. Used by many campers.
Sealed plug are only on items with a detachable chord. So you do not need a new telly, kettle or computer, just a new lead.
