Am I Alone?

I have a heart. When I see the scared kids in Afghanistan, the starving in Africa and the abused and battered people in the UK, I want justice, I even want hanging brought back- BUT - it doesn't really pull at my heart strings, and certainly doesn't make me too upset.

However, show me the tortured donkeys appeal advert, the abused animals from RSPA and the stray, malnourished dogs begging for our help, I can barely watch and often brings a lump to my throat.

I recall the evil of the IRA during the troubles. But my most emotive memory are the poor horses the putrid Fenian scum blew up in London, NOT the people they killed.

Am I alone in my emotions?

(I reiterate, I do not accept human suffering in the slightest, but it doesn't get to me as such)

Probably because poor animals can’t fight back against human cruelty Leon
agree with Bobbi, we abuse, use animals for our own ends, and quite frankly it stinks.
Animal don't tend to bite the hand that feeds them.
Emmie are you a member of PETA, or a Vegan?

Leon, I'm sure you are not alone in your emotions.
No, you are not alone Leon, I share your views 100%.
no as you well know.. from previous posts when this has come up.
Oh those poor slaughtered animals in the abattoir.
i do eat pork, chicken, i admit that's all, and fish when it suits. but this large scale abuse of animals, donkeys made to work all hours, with heavy loads, cats, dogs starved to death, and the list goes on, as i said it stinks....
Emmie why the aggressive tone? I'm sorry but I don't remember threads for years and years and can't recall having a convo on this issue.
Piggy there is a huge difference between animals being intentionally starved to death or beaten up, and animals going to slaughter for food.
not aggressive but this matter has gone round time and again, and yes i recall posts where you are involved, or at least i believe so.

Dear Piggy. I recall some Albanian guy violently punching pigs whilst they were on they way to be slaughtered.

Yes, it is a strange thing - the pigs were on their way to die. But the guy still deserves to lose an eye in my honest opinion. And I was upset at the footage.
Emmie you may well remember, I don't. I go on many different forums and frankly don't dwell on what's said on them. You are insinuating I was stirring a pot and frankly I'm not letting that go. You are setting a tone for this thread that I'm not prepared to engage in.
so what APG. don't engage but you can certainly dish it out when you want to... asking me if i am a member of PETA, of course not.
What’s PETA?
Leon thats a very interesting observation. When animals go to be slaughtered for food, in the main, the farmer has looked after them, fed them well and dealt with any veterinary issues. A badly looked after animal fetches less money at the Market. Yes these animals are going to die, but at the very least should be treated with respect up to and after that point.
PETA = People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
I remember footage of poor Annie the last circus elephant left in a British circus, chained and being beaten with a pitchfork by a temporary foreign employee the circus owner had taken on and just left him to it to 'care' for her !! The poor beautiful animal just stood there and took it as she had taken it all her life long. Thankfully it was filmed by animal rights people and she was saved from further hell and now resides at a safari park with all her needs met (except she is the only elephant and I wish she had a companion of her own kind).
auntpg emmie did not have an aggressive tone why are you making this thread into a poor me are you a donkey no this thread is about the donkeys yes they make me sad especially when they have a poorly leg that is really sad especially if they tie it to the one in front it is awful and the worst part is they spend tens of thousands of money on TV ads they could just give this money to the donkeys for them to get a shed with some hay and a carrot it wouldnt even cost that much just for some relief for the donkey
seeing the adverts of starving children and ones with facial deformaties and eye problems breaks my heart , i find the animal ones sad but not to the same degree
