Frozen Mouse

Can you please help sort out this ongoing problem I have been having for a few weeks now.

The mouse and sometimes the keyboard, seem to freeze totally. The pointer stops and there is no connection between the actual mouse and the pointer, and sometimes I can still type, like it I was in MSN typing on IM, but if I am not then the keyboard freezes as well. The only way I can get the mouse to work is by switching off the tower, unplugging the mouse, plugging it back in and switching the coumputer back on, if i just restart it usually doesn't work and the mouse is still frozen.

The mouse is a Mercury one and has a round plug on the end with lots of little thin pins and a little black oblong one, I think it means it is PS2.

My screen has also been going green alot but this seems to have stopped today since ren the scan and the checker found 12 Trojan Horse things and removed them.

Any advice please?

Can you get anyone to buy you a new mouse for xmas? and is there a troubleshooting button in your mouse properties in control panel?

Mine used to do that but it was a cordless and it was the batteries going. So not really the same problem I guess

Or maybe if it came with software try re-installing it?

try shutting down...then restarting....tapping F8 button at the same time.....then a list of choices should appear....there should be one that says.....restart at last working settings....or summat similar.....try entering that.....may help...

If it is a mouse that plugs in directly to the computer the wires could be broken. I now only use a wire free mouse because I am always dropping it! Trojans shouldn't effect ps2 diveces as the ps2 controller is connexted directly to the proccesor.
