What Can Give My Cockerpoo To Stop Her Scratching

She’s go no fleas but suffers from ‘doggy’ eczema, I’ve tried a half of antihistamine tablet ( Piriton) but that hasn’t helped
Any ideas ?

Are you sure there's no fleas? I only ask cause last time you were adamant and several (expensive) trips to the vet later you found out she had them. Fleas get used to flea treatments over time so it might be time to swap?

There’s definitely no fleas as I’ve just had her groomed
The vet said a spray but even that’s not working

Please, please, please don't give medications that are intended for humans to animals. In many cases, just half a tablet of something that we take quite happily can be enough to kill a pet.

You really need to get to the root cause of the problem. In the case of my friend's English Setter, it turned out to be a dust mite allergy that was behind her constant itching. The only solution was for my friend to rip up all the carpets in her flat and live from then on with an uncarpetted floor.

Are you sure she has eczema? It couldn’t be that she’s just sensitive to the shampoo the groomer uses?

Yes it’s eczema , she was diagnosed with it by the Vet and she gets small spots on her skin, apparently it’s common in the breed ( she said)

I just had a quick google it seems to be caused by an allergy - it can all sorts including food. Maybe you should start a process of elimination. How about changing her food to see how she goes?

You say there is deffo no fleas cause she's just been groomed but iirc she was being groomed last time and they missed the fleas? We have to regularly change flea treatments here (perhaps we just breed super fleas down here!) Otherwise it just stops working. BTW Chris, my vet recommended Puriton from the chemist for our dog

Yes they ( the vets missed the fleas )
We tried changing her food Naomi but she wouldn’t eat it

Lola has a very tight curly cost , she’s more poodle than cocker, I must say I was surprised at her groomer missing that too
