Just watched the excellent Dream Horse - the story of Welsh villagers clubbing together to buy a brood mare and to then see it's progeny (Dream Alliance) race at a high level after overcoming a very concerning injury.
I knew about the horses achievements on the racetrack, but i didn't really know the back-story, which is a good thing. Don't Google before watching, it may spoil your viewing.
It really is a feel good film, just under 2 hours, with some laugh out loud moments - mainly provided by the village drunk. It is available to purchase on Prime, though there are streaming services, too.
If you do watch it, don't switch off immediately the credits begin rolling. There's a little sing-along at the end in which the actors are seen with the people they have just portrayed.
One thing which puzzled me throughout the film was the fact Dream Alliance wore the number 3 in all the races shown. The horse was a handicapper and handicappers are allocated their numbers according to the weight they are carrying - top weight wears number 1 and so on. Dream Alliance raced 30 times and NEVER wore the number 3! Sack the researcher :-)
