Bichon Frise dogs

Hi,

Does anybody know what they are like? Personality wise and yappy wise! Also, I haveh heard they don't shed any hairs. Is this true?

If I did get a yappy one, can it be trained not to?

Also, does anyone know of a reputable breeder in Cumbria/north west area? How much do they sell for?

They have a good personality. If trained properly like any dog they don't yap. They don't moult but need clipping. There are a couple of Bichon nr where I live and they are lovely little dogs.

There are a couple of them in the house that backs onto our garden. They yap and they yap and then they yap some more- you'll get the picture!!!

The guy who has them, used to have a Newfoundland, but when it died last year, he let his wife choose the breed of the new dog. He swears he will never have this breed again.

That in itself would put me off owning the breed

Any dog left out or bored will:yap or they also will dig or escape to go find adventure or chew everything, and/or become hyperactive,but if you trained them and worked them like maggie01 says, they should be fine. Every dog needs socializing and training to be a good dog.

My girlfriends mum has a Bichon Frise and my friend from childhood had one which use to knock around with us. I have to say they are probaly one of the friendliest dogs I have seen. always happy to see you very playful and not at all agressive. In fact my girlfriend mums dog gets on with hr 5 cats famously!

i have 2 bichons aged 3 and 5, they do not shed hir but must be groomed regularly, professionally if you cant do it yourself, they are delightful, loyal, lovely charactors, they need routine and lots of excercise, mine have 2 hours a dayat least, dont think that because they are small they dont need much, they love people and getting out, will do the 'bichon run' where they tear round in a circle, they only bark too much if they are bored, so if youb are lazt dont get one, if you are not get 2 they are fantastic pets

we had a little mongrel for 15 years i never wanted a pedigree but a freind offered me a bicson my guy said no way he didnt want to take a fluffy little dog for a walk as he loves country walks etc but decided to have paddy a male bicson we had him at six weeks old he is one of the best decisions i have made in my life, bicsons are highly inteligent freindly beyond belief so easy to train and a joy to have my guy now takes him everywere and we both love him to bits i paid 250 for him i think you have to shop arond a bit try loot paper and i now have a hair free car and house
