Can I Give My Cat Antihistamine?

I need to give my lovely but difficult cat one eye drop per day. It is proving absolutely difficult. I heard about giving cats antihistamines to knock them out, so can I give it to my cat and if so, how much? I'm hoping by giving him this, it will lull him into a calm mood.

NO, it is not safe to give any animals medication that is meant for humans. Always consult your vet.

If you are having problems giving the cat eye drops it is highly unlikely that you will be able to get it to take a tablet.

I had to give my last cat tablets each day. Hiding it in his food didn't work, hiding it in his treats sometimes worked.

It depends on your cat, they tend to be devious and suspicious animals.

Phone the vet for advice. They are used to dealing with reluctant patients.

No, not unless it's prescribed. Go on to YouTube, it proved invaluable when I couldn't get pills down my kitties throat.

Follow Tigerlily's advice and put "give a cat eyedrops" or similar in the search box in YouTube. You can also put something like "vet giving cat injection" and see some amazing examples of vets getting assaulted by "nice little pussy"

Have you tried wrapping your cat tightly in a towel? That sometimes works and keeps the little daggers out of harms way.
