Worried About A Friend, Hepatitis Jaundice Now A Pancreas Camera In Hospital
5 Answers
Hi there
I am really worried about a dear friend of mine. 2 weekends ago he was seen by out of hours complaining of vomiting, shivering and bright orange urine. They said his liver function tests were abnormal but sent him home with a follow up appt with his GP told Nil by mouth 48 hours. He saw his GP who repeated blood and was told he had hepatitis he again repeated blood and was referred to liver clinic for bloods and scan this was to be today but everything has moved very fast. But last Thursday after Liver function tests was told to go straight into hospital and was admitted that night and put on fluids. He had a MRI scan the next day followed by a CT scan on Sunday. He was given an endoscopy today but I think it was an ERCP. He was told on Friday he had sludge in the common bile duct, today a nurse told his wife they expanded the common bile duct and got rid of the sludge. He Is bright yellow his wife thinks the yellow will go away now that the sludge has gone?? More worryingly he is having an endoscopy of his pancreas tomorrow which I am certain is an ERCP. He has also lost 1 stone in 6 weeks.
Very sadly he has a valve failure in his heart and had a pre OP assessment for his operation at a cardiac centre 50 miles supposed to be within 3 months but now been 4 months I fear he will not get this now.
My fear is this is something horrendous like pancreatic cancer. Am I being pessimistic here

I wouldn't jump the gun regarding a diagnosis of a malignant process. It could be any one of a number of things and I wouldn't like to speculate at this stage.
Another Aber's daughter recently had similar presenting symptoms and that turned out to be Hep E.
