Yesterday I gave Maxie his de-worming tablets at about 3pm. But last night and for the first time since I had him he vomited about 8pm.

Now I know it was the fireworks that upset him not the actual tablets.

Anyway would anybody know if the tablets done their job earlier or would I have to get him some more.

Why did you give them to him? Does he have evidence of worms? I only worm my dogs if they have evidence of them, and haven't actually wormed a dog for quite a few years now. You can do a worm count to check if you are not sure.
https://www.wormcountsfordogs.co.uk/ You can use these instead of putting unnecessary chemicals into your dog.
Oh how we differ. I wouldn't dream of Not giving my dog his worming tablets.

jj it should take Maxie, being a small dog, about 4 hours to digest his food.

well i never gave him de-worming tablets for years too and felt I should have but now having to sign for him to go to Dog's Trust after I die - that was one of the questions - so did it for that reason.

I had also to get a Dog Guardian that upon my demise this Guardian has permission to sign Maxie over.

Now I just have to change my will.
He should have got the medicine by that time.
Do you worm children?
Re treating animals . My dogs get profilactate treatment for Heartworm and Leishmaniosis as both are endemic here. They also get regular flea and tick treatment as do the cats. I prefer to treat to prevent the disease rather than treat the disease. All my current animals have been treated all their lives with no ill effects
Yes we do worm the children here. Some of the imported goods have obvious contamination. Grandson has had worms 3 times and the whole family is treated each time
The Kennel Club, PDSA and the RSPCA all recommend worming adult dogs at least every three months.
Actually the Kennel Club state: If you're worried about your dog's health, always contact your vet immediately!

We are not a veterinary organisation and so we can't give veterinary advice, but if you're worried about any of the issues raised in this article, please contact your local vet practice for further information.

More often children are infested with worms by other children, not dogs.

Re worming, The Kennel Club states:
How often should I treat my dog for worms?
At least every three months. Depending on your pet's lifestyle, more regular worming may need to be undertaken and it is recommended this be discussed with your vet if you are concerned.
