JJ - this firm say they do wasp removals starting from £75. Perhaps you could get a quote from them? https://flytechpestcontrolsolutions.com/wasp-nest-removal/

was on the ipad hence the typing is bad - I have wasps flying in and out through a hole near where the toilet pipe is sticking out upstairs. Some years ago this happened but it was fixed for free - now I am told it is £468 to remove them.

Anybody else know anything else to help me. Thanks
Deep breath. Are you sure they are wasps? Wasps usually do not fly in a swarm. What are they doing now
Question Author
just flying around singularly

ie in and out of the toilet pipe hole
Spray plenty of fly killer aerosol into the hole, then block up the hole, preferably in some permanent manner, e.g. with plaster or cement.

it is too high up the wall - I couldn't reach it
Get a handyman/friendly neighbour with a ladder. Don't give up easily.

nobody wants to get bitten

Your handyman/friendly neighbour with a ladder won't get bitten if he gets on with the job, and doesn't dither about. I speak from experience.
Best thing to do is search for a local pest controller. I called someone out to a wasps nest 2 years ago and it was around £90. Do not try and sort it yourself, you could end up getting stung.

Whoever is telling you £468 is ridiculous.

Are you absolutely sure there is a nest and they are not just flying around to get moisture from the toilet pipe area? Or indeed, just mining wood from that area?

Tbh, if it is a nest and it is in the cavity and is high up, I would just leave them to get on with it.
