i have recently heard that pple ACTUALLY de-claw their cats!!!! like how utterly cluel and in-humane can pple get?

just because there cat scratches the furniture there just to lazy to do anything about it to stop them, so they just go to get there cats claws ripped out!

if u actually love or care about ur cat why would u get them de-clawed? i don't know? its just behond me that pple can be so utterly evil! might aswell go and get ur fingers chopped off while ur gettin them de-clawed cuz its the same bloody thing!

the poor little cats are in quite a lot of unnecessary pain from the mutilation of the paws! just cuz there owners think something a long the lines of

"well there an inside cat so they don't realy need there claws and i won't have my favorite chair scrached"

well pple who do it obviously care more for their furniture than the happy well being of there cats..there pple don't even diserve to own cats let a lone any other pet, wat next? will they take there dog to get its teeth pulled out?

well sorry its so long but i'm a totall cat lover and i hate any form of unnecessary in-humane treatment towards cats!

Yes, agree re de-clawing cats is cruel. What Aliflump said about it's natural for a cat to kill mice and voles, and then goes on to say that they have been tamed to be domestic pets - very contradictory statement I think. I dont agree with cats being allowed outside to kill off creatures 'for the fun of it' surely if they have domesticated then why should they feel this need. You dont see dogs hunting like wolves now, it just wouldnt be accepted. There are not many animals that kill for the fun of it, infact I can only think of cats (and humans!!!!), so lets keep them indoors!!!!

what i mean blackdog is that although we have 'tamed' cats to become household pets, they still retain their wild instincts which is why they kill mice etc.

Cats are not human, they may have been domesticated to be pets but you cannot teach them not to hurt small animals! They cannot stop 'feeling this need'!!

Do dogs not still chase after cats and other animals when walking in the park, some go after other dogs.

Flump - you have missed my point completely!!

Let's be quite clear about this - declawing is an AMPUTATION!

How anyone can defend this vile practice, or inflict it on an animal which looks to them for love and care, I cannot comprehend.

The inside/outside debate is quite a different matter. Personally, I feel that as cats do indeed retain many of their wild instincts, they will probably be healthier and happier if they are allowed out, and my own cats come and go as they please. As someone else has said, you don't keep children, or adults for that matter, locked up 'for their own good'. There are dangers in life and unfortunately we have to accept those dangers if we are to lead happy, full and fulfilled lives.

On the other hand, I can understand why people want to keep their much-loved pets safe. I've agonised about this, but finally come to the conclusion that if I kept my cats in I'd be doing it for more for myself, to keep me from worrying about them, than for them. I just think that if you're going to be responsible for any living thing, you need to try and keep in mind what's best for them, not you.

But even if you do keep a cat in indoors, there is no justification for having it declawed. Again, as someone else has said, if you think more of your furniture than you do your pet, you need to not have a pet!
