I'm booked for racing at Newmarket on Thursday. (£12 in advance, £23 on the gate π²)
I know it's a bit early but just looking ahead at the card for timings and wondering why the hour plus gap between races? Any ideas from our horse racing experts on here?
A gap of 1 hour and 10 minutes between races is not normal and, if done on a regular basis, woud most likely put punters off visiting the track. It would certainly put me off.
There are sometimes lengthy gaps between races if a Classic, or another well established race, is taking part at another meeting, but as i can't find any evidence of this, i am as baffled as the rest of you, and am also interested in discovering the rasons for these gaps.
Remember to take your lederhosen, Maydup!

Mystery solved. I contacted Newmarket via social media showing them a screen shot from both At the Races and Racing Post. Here's the reply:
That will be an error from them pulling through race information incorrectly. Please see the event schedule tab on our website for the timings π
I did this and there is no gap, last race is at 5.05 and not 5.40pm. We'll be home for tea now!
