I can recommend the Dyson pet hair vacuum. Comes in an upright or pull alongs. Picks up my Retrievers hair no problem, even the very fine hair.

Comes in a lovely purple colour too! You can buy it online at Comets for a better price, compared to going in to the store. Or you can see if they will match it. We paid 219.00 back in August.

I have a dog from whose coat I could knit a jumper.
We have a Miele Cat and Dog vacuum cleaner and are very happy with it.
yes, i agree a miele is the best in my view and i have tried a few.
We've got the Dyson Animal too. It works a charm.
I'd go with Dyson too - the pet hair ones that is - but as a very cheap alternative, I also have a rubber hand brush (don't know the make, but it's all rubber) which with some elbow grease gets hairs up no problem.
Every week when the cleaner gets out the ordinary dyson ( no special attatchment ) she extols the virtue of her Miele cat/dog vacuum cleaner.
Yes I would also recommend The Animal Dyson I have three persian cats and they leave hair every where so YES go for the DYSON
