It's obvious that she was a scapegoat to cover up hospital incompetence.

The evidence which was presented to the jury persuaded them that she was guilty.

However, there has been a great deal of unease that the evidence was not as robust as it ought to be and that her defence team did not test this evidence properly.

I really think that this entire case ought to be scrutinised to the fullest extent as I have always felt uneasy about her conviction.

Her handwritten notes where I recall she talked of harming babies were a factor  I recall, but it was the fact that so many occured on shifts she was on. But I know some statistical experts have since said the statistics may not prove anything- these sorts of patterns will occur somewhere at some time to someone, and other staff may also have a similar pattern. There may be an appeal at some point.  Senior Tory David Davies is s trong advocate of a retrial  https://www.shropshirestar.com/uk-news/2025/01/08/senior-tory-to-lead-commons-debate-on-convicted-child-serial-killer-lucy-letby/

I agree with jackthehat shose post wasn't there when I started typing.

Many who have heard about this case, might believe Letby’s handwritten written notes (concerning harming babies) produced in court were damning.

But Private Eye (issue 1632) noted that these were produced after counselling sessions as part of a therapeutic process in which she was advised to write down her troubling thoughts and feelings - this was never revealed to the jury.

(so they weren’t secret notes, she’d hidden under her bed - or something like that)

David Wilson (Professor of Criminology at Birmingham City University) who specialises in serial killers, said that in his view the so called confession notes were ‘meaningless’ and had no value as evidence (in only he’d said that at her trial).

oh god beancrisp again - my posts seldom survive the  on  duty slashing mods

because she er... did it ( them)

The evidence which was presented to the jury persuaded them that she was guilty. - or had done it

and that her defence team did not test this evidence properly.

her defence doctor expert declined to give evidence -and he cdnt support her case

oo-er judgy baby !

and he cdnt support her case - and they cdnt find a replacement  - oo-er oo-er Mrs!

Jesus my post has lasted more than 30s wow

The PE analyses make disturbing reading. But patriarchy and misogyny is still very strong in this country, so she is at a disadvantage from the start.

you cant say she was a bad spelle so oh poo to the dead babies

two cases - I said to my lawyer - at the  end of four  hours there is a dead baby in Recovery of the operating theatres - I  have tto explain why

and my wonderful lawyer ( the  wonderful Christine Milne ) said ' in the next 20 y  you will find out things  which  will compeletely change your mind about this" she was correct -

Give it a few years, and it will be like the Postmaster scandal all over again. People with power blaming someone without power to cover up their own incompetence.

Hi Chair!

having sat thro countless house of Post office ( 100) - no I dont

good luck on that one

enior-tory-to-lead-commons-debate-on-convicted-child-serial-killer-lucy-letby/

completely inappropriate that a parliamentarian soiuld interfere in the judicial process

both david davis and the speaker shold have know that

I thought the same no direct evidence just all circumstantial.

Also didn't hear much from defence team

The verdict handed down to the former neonatal nurse Lucy Letby last week brought to an end more than 21 months of court proceedings. After two trials and two attempts to appeal, Letby has been convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder seven others. She is serving whole-life sentences.

For many there has been little room for doubt that Letby is the worst child serial killer in British history. Jurors heard harrowing testimony from the parents of the babies who died, and were shown notes scrawled by Letby and shift rotas that were used to condemn her.

Throughout the trial period, and much of the preceding six years when Cheshire police were investigating a cluster of baby deaths at the Countess of Chester (CoC) hospital and had arrested Letby, laws intended to ensure juries are not influenced by stories in the press meant British journalists reported only what was said in court.
