On his visit too the US.

On this I think he is correct. Ukraine is in Europe's back yard we all should be dealing with it. Let Trump take his ball back and burger off over the pond.

last week, Trump said of KS -

"We have a lot of good things going on. But he asked to come and see me and I just accepted his asking."

"It was his request, not mine."

so I suspect KS might be on a road to nowhere.

It really is Europe's problem to solve.  But so far no-one in Europe has moved this conflict closer to ending.  By withdrawing support for Ukraine, Trump is putting pressure on all countries in Europe (ours included) to get our big boy pants on and not expect the US to bail us out all the time.  Starmer would do worse than to ramp up our defence budget for starters.  Unlikely to happen.

The loss of US resources to defend (western) European culture and European nations, is a big loss/disadvantage to the remaining nations trying to act morally. It's all very well saying Europe should be sorting it out themselves, but united we stand, divided we fall. That's why we make alliances and don't expect those considered friendy to leave the rest of us in the crap as soon as an opportunity to grab benefit for themselves occur.

One wonders what the prevailing American citizens' view is. Do they accept they should be taking the high ground, or are they of the view they should be taking whatever they can grab ?

As for trade deals. While we are left in the mire, and not supporting Trump's selfish views, I can't see that going anywhere sensible. We'll have to concentrate on other independent nations and come back to US negotiations when someone more reasonable is in charge.

Not sure who it was OG but someone from the Whitehouse said last night that Trumps words have been a disgrace.

^^ Not sure if he will fall from a top floor window later. :0)

"Is Keir Starmer Wasting His Time"  Wouldn't be the first time, would it?!

Yes, Keir Starmer is wasting his (and our) time and is on a road to nowhere.  I could have told you that years ago.

I never wondered how long it would be before someone diverted from the question in the OP.

perhaps it's just words of isolation for America from Trump. A squadron of USAF B52 bombers flew in to RAF Fairford 4 days ago, to join NATO forces.

Most people have missed the underlying point in their rush to call orange man bad.

Trump wants Europe to pull its weight and spend monay defending iteself rather than rely on the US to do it.  True some countries do it but take for instance Germany that built its powerhouse and social programs up because it wasnt spending anything like enough in defence.

Trump like to throw in the grenade to get peoples attention, and it seems to be working.

To answer the OP, 2TK is peeing in the wind.

The only thing that's working is the rapid increase of anti-US, or maybe that should be anti-Trump, sentiment.

So nothings changed then, the rabid left will call him names whatever.  At least he will save the US taxpayers a load of dosh.

At the moment I think it's anti Trump but if the American people don't start doing something soon to remove him it will be anti America.

Why do you think they want to remove him?

You do realise many in the US dont actually see this as their fight.  And why should they when they see Europe not paying its way in NATO etc?

YMB, yes, that's the one thing I do agree with Trump, Europe should increase its defence budget. As for the rest of his decisions the Americans will soon find they will start hurting at home.

Question Author

ok, so what is KS hoping to achieve, from this visit?

2TK doesn't feel happy if a week goes by without him hopping first class on a jet to some far off place. Cost so far - £700k / £1 million and counting?
