dogs and foxes

a fox has recently chosen to visit my garden, is it safe to leave my small dog (shitsu x) unattended, or can anyone out there suggest how I deter the fox

There's a family of foxes in the gardens behind our flat... and we have four cats, who have worked out for themselves when and where it is safe to be out. There's no mixing, occasional bewildered staring, and the foxes don't have make a din at night, but there have been no problems other than that. No dogs have access to the gardens and they might react differently.

Why don't you start dressing in riding gear and red jackets, perhaps have the odd horse around ? Of course, you have to watch out for those foxes, they are as cunning as weasels.

Your dog isn't safe don't leave it in the garden and I don't think you can deter the fox it probably regards your gardent as its territory now.

Don't hold me responsible for anything that happens to your dog but I generally find that foxes are Sh** scared of dogs (mine is a bit bigger - a collie X) and foxes run a mile from her. Foxes are generally scavengers, particularly in towns, rather than hunters. They won't go in for a fight unless really hungry and an easy target that won't fight back. I've also seen foxes scared off by cats.
