Female Cats Spraying?

Over the years, I've noticed two of my female cats 'spraying' against plants and walls. I'd always thought this was exclusive to male cats. Are female cats able to 'spray' or are they just pretending to mark their territory?!!

Female cats do spray so they are not just pretending. It just doesn't smell as bad as when the culprit is a Tom Cat.
