How do i stop my kitten lying on my computer keyboard?! There is a WHOLE house to sit on-radiators, beds, sofas, carpets, rugs....etc. Some much more comfortable then a keyboard surely! He just won't stop! As soon as i start work hes lying on it. I move him he gets back on. I leave the room hes destroyed my work! Its driving me insane!!!! Does anyone else have this problem???!

Sam doesn't actually lie on it he just walks backwards and forwards on it miaowing at me and trying to chase the cursor when it moves on the screen. The amount of emails I've sent which have sentances like "Hiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hooowwwwwwwwwwwwasaa aaaaaaaaadjjjjjjjjjjdshshre youuooo shudfjskasfdsaffds"

I think it's a cat's way of saying "Oi, stop looking at that screen - look at ME look at ME!"

Cats are just so curious and love to join in with everything!

For some unknown reason one of my cat loves to sit on our coffee maker (when it is empty).

Our daughter's cat loves to curl up in a ball & go to sleep on the top of her photo copier when it's on standby - it must be the sound of the motor humming.

In lieu of a computer screen, my cat will without fail, sit on whichever newspaper I have open in front of me, and if I am reading a book, she will climb onto me and lie down between me and the book. I think it has to be an attention thing in your cat's case too! I have no solution other than putting out food to distract him perhaps?
One of my cats lies on the newspaper when you're reading, too. However, what I then have to do,is bring the paper up over him,so it covers him,and then he sometimes goes to sleep! Awwww! Wee soul !!

i have similar troubles...when i read, she gets between me and my book or magazine, when i'm writing she'll nudge the pen so it's impossible to write properly, if i lie back to watch the tv, she'll lie on me so i can;t see the telly, and when i'm putting on my make-up she's constantly nudging me or knocking things away with her paw.

i agree, i think it's attention thing - or else she wants to join in!!!

but i love her to bits and wouldn't be without her!! :)

my cat is determined to climb into the box of Kleenex. The fact that he outsizes it by about 2 to 1 does not diminuish his enthusiasm. Try propping the keyboard up on its side when you go out of the room. AT least that will deter him from getting on it unsupervised!
My wee daftie does this as well, I'm afraid the only solution is to lift him off and deposit him somewhere else warm and cosy, when he tries to get back on, just block him, he'll eventually get the message!

Get

Get one of those halogen heaters and place it next to your computer. Not only will it warm your feet, but kitty will soon find prefrence with the warmth of the fire and snuggling next to your feet, than the bumpy matteress of a computer keyboard. Otherwise, you could try laying out your favourite item of clothing nearby. He/she will quite happily curl up on that instead, covering it with fur in the process!
The same cat that sits on the coffee maker also sits next to the table lamp which her head under the lampshade. Perfect kitty sun lamp!
