pregnancy and cocaine use

can anyone tell me what are the possible effects of a woman who uses cocaine in the first trimester of pregnancy? This is not for me but was told this about a girl I know, and was curious if there can be any long term effects of effect on the baby as it is still very early in the pregnancy?

LOTS of possible side affects, all of which are negative, some of which can be fatal.

Though apparently the VERY worst drug to take in pregnancy is crack cocaine, because of the sudden severe drop in blood preassure it causes. Though obviously any drug is bad in pregnancy

sorry to be unhelpful, it's aimed at your cocaine taking pregnant acquaintance, but if all stupid people weren't allowed to breed I wonder if there would be a decline in the population of stupid people.

she's actually not a stupid person - but a young and very social young professional, but she obviously has an addiction problem. I was shocked to be perfectly honest.

Well either she is extremely stupid or she's Psycotic, she obviously does not care about her own health or the health of her baby. A mother that does not care about her own child is generally diagnosed as psychotic.

here here loosehead, I was going to respond, with something like, oh, if she's not stupid maybe irresponsible, but when I thought about it the word stupid was the only one that fit, I didn't think of psychotic, but I think you've summed it up!

i agree loosehead. Personally, I find the fact that some people drink and smoke whilst pregnant, is a crime, ;et alone class a drugs. Poor child does not even get a chance.
