Is it March 1st, like the meteorologists say, or March 20th/21st, or when the first daffodils are visible, or something like that?
March 1st seems too arbitrary, though convenient with our calendar, whereas March 21st whilst seeming logical, seems too late. If the vernal equinox on the 21st marks the start of spring, then by the same argument, Midsummer's Day ought to mark the beginning of Summer.

However, i have crocus, snowdrop and daphne in full flower...things that are usually associated with February and i have a little daffodil called 'February gold' which is just coming out into flower...and i've seen this out in early jan before.....Crazy weather !!!
