Do elephants get cholera? And if not, why not?

The cholera bacteria is likely to affect the elephant but it appears not to be a recognised disease that they suffer from. See: http://www.elephant.se/elephant_diseases.php?open=Elephant%20diseases for a list of illnesess that they are susceptible to.


They do get anthrax, TB and even herpes it seems, but though thay may carry the cholera bacteris it doesn't make them ill.
