look around in carpeted areas usually they take some to make a nest. which is what my friends one did. or put some really tempting food down and just keep an eye on it.
i meant to say good luck aswell.

Thanks babybop

I've got a bucket in each room with a ramp up it and treats in the bottom.....

nice idea but you can generally track where it is because they tend to gnaw at things. My one used to escape in the middle of the night and you would wake to find her crawling over the bed. A bit unerving at times.

OMG! I hope he finds his way into the bucket and not my bed! I scare really easily!

Sorry didnt mean to plant that idea into your head! another one i had used to get behind the tumble dryer or in the airing cupboard because it was a warm place and they love that. Also they are nocturnal so have a listen around tonight you will probably hear it.

Eeek!...ok!

<wibble>

you being like that reminds me of when we bought my daughter a hamster my male friend was with me and we got her home and i had a box on the floor to put her in. So i sorted the cage out and was ready to put her into it I went to pick her up but everytime i went to do it i got a bit nervous and couldnt do it to much ribbing from my mate! so eventually i asked him to do it he got up all macho and was about to pick her up she ran towards him and he totally chickened out. both of us then sat there and realised that its not exactly gonna go for your jugular as soon as you pick it up but we still couldnt do it in the end i got her into a smaller box and transfered it. silly really in all the time we had her she didnt bite once!!!

Leave the cage on the floor with plenty of food in it. It will go in for a feed and then probably have a sleep.

I had one get under the floor boards once and my dad had to take up the carpets and floor boards. It came out itself into a coal cupboard and sat there looking at us.

i found my friends hamster once!

It was in a cupboard near all the shoes, making a bed in one of them i think, i felt like such a hero after!!

Good luck, im sure you'll find him, keep us posted!

As they're usually nocturnal creatures, he'll probably venture out after dark. Try drawing all the curtains to make the room dark, arm yourself with a torch and a fishing net and put some food in the middle of the room, having first made sure that doors to all other rooms are closed.
try in speakers, down the sofa, near where you keep the food, somwhere warm and dry, try the food in one place and stalk him/ her at night, good luck... also just an after thought our hamster (Mrs Doyle) listens intently when we make pretend chewing noises, and kiss noises, maybe that migt work with yours?
get a cat.
