Our dogs have been on the same food for a while now, keeping a good weight,no problems but just recently they've lost weight, and will not put it back on,they usually have to have their food changed every so often for this reason but don't know what else to try,def NOT repnor cos they would eat the poop with that,No tin food and DEF no pedigree chum muck and with 3 big dogs don't want to be bunging out 40 per sack from vets with what they get through between them!Cheers

Has been wormed recently and regularly and is actually the same weight as last time at the vet, but he just seems so thin round his belly. Wondered if a change of food would make a difference? Now on Chudley's Classic (used to be on Bakers but went off his food when we lost our old dog - eats well now.).Regards.
I'm afraid you get what you pay for with dog food. The better quality food, the less you feed, as they digest more.
If you won't pay for a decent food, try an 'own brand' chicken and rice or a greyhound maintenance from one of the pet supermarkets. Add some tripe to it if you want them to put on weight.
Cheers haljon they're rotties, its not that i WONT pay for DECENT food but the amount they go through i'll be permanantly, buying it,but yeah i guess the more expensive the less they'll need but not all dogs are fed on DECENT food are they? The food they're on at mo is chicken and rice we've also tried beef and tripe but making no difference and they have been wormed!
By the time you've paid for supplements, you might as well buy decent food in the first place. Rotties are big bones large breeds that need a decent food intake, I have a five month old Rottie pup and she is on top quality dried puppy food, plus cooked beef, chicken, rice pudding, goats milk together with knuckle and marrow bones and pigs ears, and she is growing well and is having no problems with teething, as she has plenty to chew on. She will stay on the Puppy food until she is 9 or 10 months then go on to Junior until she is abut 18 months. You only get out what you put in.
We've had rotties for years and never had this problem before,we could get expensive food for them but not everyone can afford it,this doesn't mean that their dogs are any less looked after so maybe i will try supplements pajama Girl, failing that will look at sitting them down with a good old 3 course meal!!!
