Wild animals V/s Domestic animals

Do Tortoise or turtles come under Wild animals?and what about Ferrets,Skunks,racoons,iguana why do people have them as pets aren't they wild animals?

I think the distinction between the two is sometimes a thinly drawn line but depends on weather the animal has been bred in captivity or not.

Animals that return to the wild after being domesticated are classed as ferral but these may live on the fringes of mans habitation and may still be dependant on human activity.

Animals that allow themselves to become tamed, I would think are either semi wild or semi domesticated, depending on the extent of their dependancy.

wheather thats an answer or not I'm not sure but its just the way that I see it.
