dog meets cat for the first time!

i will be moving in with my bf. soon, problem is i have dog, and he has a cat. any one with any suggestions how to introduce them ? My dog isnt viscious at all but will be curious. However cat is a right mardy little b....r !

There is no need to introduce them directly; both animals will scent each other and get used to each others' presence quickly. If the dog goes after the cat, just make sure they are separated at mealtimes. After a few weeks, they will be fine.

Hi, we kept the cat and dog in separate rooms for a few days until they got used to the new scents. then we indroduced them by always keeping the dog on a lead when they were in the same room. Cats are usually good at sticking up fpr themselves, and dogs even playful ones, seem to understand the swipe of a cat's paw means business.

Since first introducing them we have had another dog, crazier than the first and the cat has always been the boss.
