Unsuccessful Mating

Had our bitch mated twice (two days apart). On both occasions the dogs tied properly but, sadly, there is nothing to show for it. Due to a variety of circumstances she was mated on day 14 and again (quite happily) on day 17. I'm looking for a suggestion as to why she didn't breed. The male is a proven dog who knew exactly what he was doing!

we have recently mated our bitch and before we mated her we had a premated test done by our vet �23 they then can tell you the best days for mating etc...

Thank you. I'll certainly approach the vet. She's a young, fit dog so hopefully I just got her done a bit late - though she was more than willing!
