How much do veterinary nurses get paid in the UK?

According to prospects.ac.uk, based on 1999 figures, average salaries are as follows: Trainee - �7,500 to �,8,500 Qualified - �10,000 to �17,000 I had a quick look on the British Veterinary Nurse Association web site - bvna.org.uk - but couldn't see any salary information, though no doubt if you contact them, they can help you out. You could also contact vet practices local to you to find out typical salaries in your area.

Wages for Vet nurses vary dramatically, not just by the amount of experience a nurse has gathered, but also due to the area they work in. E.g Kent can pay a qualified nurse anything from �17,000 - �20,000, this is also not unheard of in central london, or around �18,000. Slough, Berkshire and Bucks can pay between �10,000 -�13,000 and expect that to be acceptable. I personally don't, but i have worked in Kent and London so i expect the best i can get as a principle. Sometimes i truly believe qualified nurses , or any level Vet nurse for that matter are severely under-rated and mostly unrecognised. Let's hope this stigma surrounding us will change for the better very soon.  :-)
