fruit flies?

we have strawberry plants but they are covered in tiny black flies - fruit flies? they r doing my head in any suggestions on how to get rid of them? thanx xXx

My Philadelphus and some of the dahlias seem to attract black flies. They are tiny but collectively look awful - sometimes a whole piece of stem will be totally black. I make up jugs of soapy water (washing up liquid) which kills them. In the good old days when you could use a hosepipe, I could then wash them off but now I have to wipe them off with a piece of kitchen towel. If they are on the actual fruit, you may not feel like pouring soapy on them though.

thanx foxlee. they r everywhere so i think i'll give the soapy water a miss. i think i'll just have to put up with it for now. xXx
