when you count seconds between lightning and thunder, how many seconds is it to a mile?

At, say 65 degrees F air temperature, the speed of sound is roughly 1123.293963254593 feet per second in Earth's atmosphere at sea level Therefore, the sound will travel a mile at about 4.70003077 seconds... So, see how many times you count 1001, 1002, 1003, 1004 to see how far the lightning was away...
