how long do toroises live for?

i had my tortoise when i was 12 and was told then that she was 36. so as she is now 63, is it possible she will outlive me?

Yes, its very possible she may outlive you, one that recently died was believed to be 176 years old!
It was first picked up by Charles Darwin in1835 on the galapagos islands and put on board HMS Beagle.

My pet tortoise was about 75 when he was sadly attacked and mauled by a neighbour's dog who broke into our garden. He subsequently died from the shock. Before that incident he was still lively and healthy. I was beginning to think that I would need to make arrangements for his safe upkeep in my Will.
