Silver Fish

We bought a house and it has silver fish.
Are they harmful?
Why are we infested?
How do i get rid of them?
Will they do damage?

where exactly were the silver fish....i mean outside in the garden to the house?....

1,Far as i know theyre harmless.
2, they like to eat dead skin flakes, thats why they are most commonly found in bathrooms and laundry closetts.
3, a household insecticide should do the trick (check label)
