hi could any one help i have just unistalled zone alarm because it stops me updating avg ,i have to always deactivate it every time i update avg which i am running along side.i have now installed net guard with firewall is this sufficient to have on its own or would i be better leaving avg on my computer as well. i would be grateful for any help ms.skippy

I have used Kerio personal firewall and Avast antivirus for years and my PC has been secured very well.

Both are free by doing the respective googles

I have both zonealarm and AVG and I get all the updates without problems.

I have tried Kerio out of curiosity, but came back to ZoneAlarm.

Personal preferences, I suppose.

Firewalls and AV software do very different jobs especially if you use Outlook Express for your e-mail as that'll let every virus under the sun into your system.

As for Zone Alarm not letting it run - might be that you've got it blocked in the ZA settings as they seem to work happily here.

As for Net Guard - sure that's legit? I heard recently it's actually spyware and does a bit more than stopping things getting into your computer....like sending data out from it.
