People who dress their dogs like children, on the other hand, are cruel. I even saw a website selling shoes for dogs once. It was awful. It said "Your dog may make a fuss about wearing the shoes at first, but stick with it and don't give in". I was so horrified that I emailed them to complain!!

Like Doglady I totally agree that people who dress up their dog on a daily basis in outfits are cruel. take someone like Paris Hilton, it's only for the pleasure of her and certainly not the dog and I strongly disagree with that. They've obviously not outgrown the doll dressing up stage yet.
I don't have anything against a coat/jacket when it's being done to benefit the dog. Even some shoes I agree with when they're being used to protect paws from adverse weather conditions like cold and hot tarmac. But I would not agree with forcing the dog to wear them.
