What is it with those mosquitos?
I woke up this morning with bites all over me, including 2 unsightly ones on my face....unfortunately I'm one of those that reacts to them so I tend to swell wherever I'm bitten.
Its hiding from me now...just wait till I see it.
Anyone else experiencing these blighters?
Been ok this year but last year especially i got slaughtered by them,if they bite they bite me it seems, and like you i blow up,my kids and hubby get little bumps where they're bitten but i totally swell, last year i kept getting bit on the leg and the entire area around the bite swelled RIGHT up,the whole leg was inflamed,GP confirmed i had allergy to bites,i'd never have guessed??lol
Been OK this year - so far, but like you I react really badly and end up needing antibiotics. Sounds disgusting but the area where I've been bitten blisters then turns black then becomes infected and swells. I'm covered in white scars from previous encounters (even one on the bridge of my nose that I got in Turkey some years back and went right down to the bone!). Could someone tell me what possible purpose mossies have in the great scheme of things - apart from spread disease and misery! (Can't you just tell how much I love them!)
Hello, don't know if this helps ... it's probably another old wives tale ...
Years ago, I was told by a Blue Water Sailor that Mozzie's don't bite you if you eat Marmite ...
(OK ... stop laughing and let me explain)
apparently Marmite contains loads of Vitamin B and Mozzies don't like Blood with high Vit B content - I'm guessing the clever little bu99ers can smell it!!!
For medical reasons I have to have Vit B12 injections, plus Folic Acid supplements and I rarely get bitten.
Mr Mort detests Marmite, and takes no supplements and gets MASSIVELY bitten regularly. Ditto with my Sister (who lives in Scotland - home of the Mozzie).
Morticiah. I have tried every 'natural' remedy going including Marmite (which I love); VitB tablets; Avon's SSS Woodland Fresh body lotion and the dry oil spray; lemon juice mixed with water and eating garlic. The one I have had most success with has been the Avon but obviously I don't use it all the time and the 'bar stewards' seek me out relentlessly. In fact, it's got so bad that I'm loathe to go abroad now unless I spend a fortune on Deet sprays & spend my nights being poisoned by plug-in fumes.
